animal collective - merriweather post pavilion

now i’m guessing a lot of people have already heard this album or at least heard of it. it is animal collective’s 8th studio album and their most pop friendly one.  they strayed from their classic “freak folk” sound on this album, replacing it with an almost rave like feel while still enforcing their noisy roots. this could be due to the departure of Deakin, their guitarist, leaving Avey Tare, Panda Bear, and Geologist to fill in lost sound with loops and samples. this makes for a lot of catchy songs. my first time hearing this album last winter i was blown away completely. i began hailing it as the greatest album ever written. it was essentially my Fleet Foxes of 6 months ago. it remains stuck with high praise in my books, which is really a good sign because i wear out music with tremendous speed. stand out tracks include “My Girls”, “Lion in a Coma”, “Summertime Clothes” and “Also Frightened”. if you’re an animal collective fan i’m sure this is already in your library’s but if you’re not, this is a great place to start. check out the song posted and if you like it, download the album -> here
